HISTORY: This project was started for the son of a friend of mine. It was suppose to be a quick make-over - three months and $3,000. The son lost interest pretty fast and the father decided to take the project over as a learning experiance. One thing lead to another and the modifications kept piling up. Now, ten years later, the project is WAY over budget and I am half owner for my contribution of labor. The real shame is that the project was never intended to go this far so when the chassis work and rust repair was done it was not done to the level representitive of the money spent as a whole. At first this will be a driver, but my vision is to make it into a race car (the chassis just isn't clean enough to be a race car.
An early stage of the project. The picture doesn't really tell the story of what a real mess the chassis was. All four corners were hit and the left front was replaced, then hit again!. All this on top of the usual rust issues.
Just prior to painting. The fiberglass GT flairs were added which opened the door for a 5-lug conversion and 8x15 911 wheels. Even though we got the flairs dirt cheap, it was an expensive proposition by the time we were done. The owner wanted to rush the paint before I thought it was ready so it didn't come out as well as I had hoped, but not bad for a garage paint job.
Probably one of the more recient picutes, and it was taken more than five years ago. Nothing has really changed on the outside but I have completed the fuel system and I have been working on the wiring. Also had some set backs do to the need to rob parts for the race car.
The completed engine. Looks good but today its covered in dust. The engine has to come back out of the car anyway...
One of the ideas for paint...
