HISTORY: A customer came to me and said he had seen a replica RSR fueltank on the nternet and asked if I could build one for him?This would be a fair test of my metal working and welding skills. It turned out to be quite a bit of work and if you want one be prepared to spend $2,000 not including the tanks.

The project entails graphting the top of an early VW gas tank toa regular 911 fuel tank.

First was to cut the filler neckoff and remove the sending unit mount as it would be used later. Then I utlined and cut the sections to be removed.

Pre- fitting all the parts to see how it will all go back together.

Cardboard templates were made to re-section the left side of the tank.

Sheet metal was thencut and formed from the cardboard templates. I was somewhat of a challenge to get the shapes right so it would look and factory as possible.
